1. Overview
John Smith Photography (“John Smith Photography,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how it’s used, and the choices you have. By using this site or submitting an inquiry, you agree to the practices described below.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, and a small amount of information collected automatically.
- Contact & booking details — name, email address, phone number, photography type, preferred date, location, budget range, and any details you share in the inquiry form.
- Communications — messages you send by email, phone, or the contact form, and any records of our correspondence.
- Usage data — standard technical information such as browser type, device type, pages viewed, and referring pages, typically collected through analytics tools.
- Cookies — small files used to remember preferences and understand how the site is used (see Section 5).
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to inquiries and provide quotes or availability;
- Plan, schedule, and deliver photography sessions;
- Send booking confirmations, invoices, and gallery delivery links;
- Improve this website and our services; and
- Meet legal, accounting, or record-keeping requirements.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for purposes unrelated to your inquiry or session without asking first.
4. Photo Galleries & Delivery
Edited photographs are typically delivered through a private online gallery hosted by a third-party gallery provider. That provider processes the images and, where applicable, any download or print-purchase activity on your gallery under its own privacy practices. We only share the images and the minimum contact details needed to set up your gallery.
5. Cookies & Analytics
This site may use cookies and similar technologies (such as Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the site and to improve performance. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; doing so may affect some site functionality. We do not use cookies to sell your data.
6. Sharing Your Information
We share information only with service providers who help us run the business — for example, gallery hosting, email, scheduling, invoicing, or analytics providers — and only to the extent needed for them to perform that service. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
7. Data Retention
We keep booking and communication records for as long as needed to provide services, meet legal or accounting obligations, and maintain a reasonable business history. Delivered galleries remain available for a limited time as described at booking; after that window, images may be archived or removed.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, or to object to certain uses of it. To make a request, contact us using the details below — we’ll respond within a reasonable time.
9. Children’s Privacy
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Family and newborn sessions are booked and managed by a parent or guardian, whose information is treated as described in this policy.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
